Where to walk your dog in Virginia Beach

What better to say to spend time with your beloved k9 than to go on a nice long walk. Walking is great exercise and most dogs enjoy getting outside and exploring. It's a great bonding time for you and your pet, people who walk there dogs regularly are happy people. There are many spots around Virginia Beach that are perfect for a dog walk. Here are a few spots that are accessible and most importantly, free to use!
 

First Landing State Park

With over 20 miles of sandy and dirt trails winding through Northern Virginia Beach, First Landing State park is the perfect place for a dog walk. The park has walking path entrances by Shore Drive and Great Neck road. It's free to walk your dog into the park. If you want to park your car inside the park, then there are fees to do so. At the 64th street entrance there is free on-street city parking wherever you can find a spot. There are lots of wildlife and plenty of space to get exercise with your dog and enjoy the wooded forest trails.

Sandbridge

Located at the Southern end of Virginia Beach, Sandbridge is often called the Outer Banks of Virginia. Located on a thin strip of "barrier island like" beaches, Sandbridge offers secluded vacation homes away from the crowds at the Oceanfront resort area. Dogs are allowed on the beach here year round, however leash laws are a city-wide rules and always remember to bring baggies to clean up after your pet. Sandbridge beach has about 4.5 miles of beach access, plenty of room to enjoy walking your dog in the sand near the water.

Oceanfront

At the resort area in the fall, winter, and spring or "off-season" is a dog walkers dream. Tons of beach access to let your dog roam free. However, in the summer tourist months, its best to find another spot to enjoy walking your dog in Virginia Beach. Animals are prohibited on the boardwalk, grassy areas, or the beach between Rudee Inlet and 42nd St. from 6:00 pm on the Friday prior to Memorial Day until 6:00 pm on Labor Day.  

Bayville Farms Park

Located at 4132 First Court Road, this is the City's first dog park to offer separate fenced areas for small and large dogs. 

Red Wing Park 

Located at 1398 General Booth Blvd., this dog park features a one-acre fenced area for both small and large dogs to play together. 

Woodstock Park

Located at 5709 Providence Road, this dog park features a one-acre fenced area for both small and large dogs to play together.
